The Tybee Island Guard House is an iconic building located on Tybee Island, Georgia. It was originally built as a base of operations for the United States Army in 1813, during the War of 1812. Today, it serves as a reminder of the city's military heritage and is also a popular tourist attraction. The guard house is made up of two buildings: a large rectangular room and a small triangular tower with a bell at its top. The main structure is constructed out of brick and wood, while the bell tower has been constructed out of local tabby stone. Inside the main building there are two large wooden doors to welcome visitors and allow them access to the guardhouse grounds. In addition to serving as an historical landmark, the guard house also hosts various events throughout the year such as educational tours, concerts, picnics and weddings. Today, it remains one of Tybee Island's most well-known landmarks and continues to draw tourists from all over the world.
