Bridal Veil Trail in Telluride is one of the most popular and stunning hikes in Colorado. The trail takes you high into the mountains, offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding area. The hike starts off at an elevation of 8,000 feet, with a gradual climb to nearly 10,900 feet. This 4-mile round trip trail is full of challenging switchbacks and inclines amidst stunning forests and wildflower meadows, before reaching the summit of Bridal Veil Falls. Along the way, hikers will be rewarded with captivating views of lush forests, rocky peaks, cascading waterfalls and alpine lakes.
The route is especially picturesque during springtime when wildflowers are in bloom and wildlife can often be spotted along the way. Wild deer are common sights while mountain goats can sometimes be seen on rocky outcroppings or glacial moraines. Raptors such as hawks or eagles may also be spotted soaring above – though they’ll likely fly away if approached too closely.
Atop Bridal Veil Falls is a spectacular view that pays tribute to its namesake waterfall below. The falls have been around since glaciers created them thousands of years ago from water runoff from snowmelt higher up in the mountains. Its peak flows fast during spring months when snow melts quickly but it decreases once summer sets in.
Bridal Veil Trail does not require special gear or any technical skill set to complete; however proper hiking apparel should always be worn for comfort and protection against ever-changing weather conditions throughout the day (rain gear is especially important!). The trail should take no longer than 4 hours total depending on individual fitness levels; rest assured there will be plenty of opportunities for rest stops along the way so hikers can take their time and enjoy all that this beautiful natural setting has to offer!
