The Tampa Postcard Mural is an iconic piece of public art on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. This vibrant mural was painted by renowned artist, Micki Goodman, and measures 7’6” wide by 22’6” high and depicts a postcard with images from around the city. It includes iconic landmarks such as The Pier, the Skyway Bridge, and Ybor City along with symbols of Tampa Bay culture including dolphins, flamingos, and manatees. The warm colors of orange, red and yellow capture the vitality of life in Tampa Bay while also giving recognition to Native American heritage and depicting wildlife native to Florida.
The mural was commissioned as part of a partnership between USF's Institute For Research In Art and the Community Arts Council (CAC) to create public art that would engage students on the university campus. Through this collaborative effort, Goodman created a visually captivating mural that celebrates both local culture and community pride. Since its installation in 2013, it has become an important source of pride for many residences of Tampa as well as an iconic symbol for USF alumni. In addition to bringing beauty to the USF campus, it has been known to serve as a backdrop for special events such as weddings or graduation photos.
