Held every summer in the scenic alpine town of Snowmass Village, Colorado, the Snowmass Rodeo is a family-friendly event showcasing traditional rodeo events in an exciting atmosphere. The rodeo has become an important part of the local community and draws visitors from far and wide to witness its spectacle.
The festivities begin with a parade through town which includes vintage and modern cars, floats, horses, mules and other animals. Afterward, the main event starts with kick-off activities such as mutton bustin’ (for children aged 6-7 years old), where participants hold onto a sheep while it races around an arena. Other traditional events include steer wrestling, barrel racing, bull riding, tie-down calf roping and team roping.
In addition to these classic performances, there are special events like wild cow milking and wild horse racing that add excitement to the night! During intermission you can visit food vendors for snacks or purchase souvenirs at craft tents. Live music on stage rounds out the evening's entertainment.
The Snowmass Rodeo also features an amazing fireworks display that lights up the sky once all of the competitions end. Visitors can also take part in activities like stick horse races, coon eating contests and mechanical bull riding before leaving for home with fond memories of their day spent at the rodeo!
