Devil's Bridge is an iconic attraction located in Sedona, Arizona. The bridge, which has been around since at least the early 1900s, is a natural sandstone arch that stands about 4o feet tall and spans 150 feet across Oak Creek. The name of the bridge can be attributed to a legend involving the devil himself and a Native American tribal chief. The story goes that the chief wanted to cross over the creek but was unable to find a way. He prayed to the spirit of the canyon and eventually, his prayers were answered when an arch appeared. But it came with a price: he had to make a deal with the devil in order for it to happen.
The area surrounding Devil’s Bridge is extremely scenic and provides many great views of Red Rock Country, including Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and sightseeing nearby. For those looking for an easier trek, trails that lead up to the arch start from different parking lots along Dry Creek Road – all within just over a mile from where you’ll find Devil’s Bridge itself.
Once at Devil's Bridge, visitors have plenty of space to explore or just take in the majesty of this massive structure while they watch eagles soar through its arches or enjoy breathtaking views of Sedona's red-rock country below.
