The Andrew Low House in Savannah, Georgia is an incredible historic site and one of the most significant examples of classic Greek Revival architecture in the city. Built between 1848 and 1849 by cotton broker Andrew Low, the house was originally constructed as a private home for his family. The house is situated at 329 Abercorn Street and has been declared a National Historic Landmark since 1976.
The two-story Andrew Low House features five large pillars on the façade with a pedimented portico which gives it a striking resemblance to classical Greek temples. The interior of the house is equally impressive, boasting lavish parlors, elaborate mantelpieces, historical artifacts and original works of art that date back to the early 19th century. In addition to its stunning architecture, this residence also provides insights into its owner’s life and times through period furniture, photographs and letters kept by Andrew Low’s descendants over the years.
Today, Andrew Low House operates as a museum offering guided tours from Tuesdays to Saturdays throughout the year.
