Moscone Center is the largest convention and exhibition complex in San Francisco, California. It is named after former San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, who was assassinated in 1978. The center consists of three main halls: The South Hall, The North Hall and The Moscone West.
The South Hall is the original building of the complex. It was completed in 1981 and originally contained 225000sqft of exhibit space. In 1997, a $55 million expansion added an additional 100000sqft to the South Hall. The North Hall was added in 1992 and contains 1100000sqft of exhibit space. It was originally connected to the South Hall by a temporary skybridge, but was permanently connected in 2003 with the addition of a new $30 million expansion. The Moscone West building was added in 2003 and contains 420000sqft of exhibit space. It is connected to the rest of the center by a pedestrian bridge over Howard Street.
