Kezar Stadium in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park was the home of the San Francisco 49ers from 1946 until 1971, when they moved to Candlestick Park . The stadium was also the home of the Oakland Raiders from 1962 until 1965. Kezar Stadium was named after John A. Kezar, a former president of the San Francisco Amateur Athletic Club. The stadium was originally built in 1925 and had a capacity of 60,000 people. It was renovated in 1950 and expanded to accommodate 80,000 people. The stadium was also used for high school football games and other sporting events. In 1971, the stadium was demolished and replaced with a parking lot. The site is now home to a recreation center and athletic fields.
