  : It was old, but it was clean, room spacious, and pool was a lovely bonus- along with a bar/resto on site!

  : The architecture was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant was delicious and the restaurant staff very accommodating.
  : The bad…so we got there around 8pm the pool and the restaurant close at 9pm so we chose to eat. The restaurant was great no issues. We get back to our room I tell my kids to take a bath in the large delightful garden tub but the water was cold. So then I try and it is still uncomfortably chilly to try and shower in by now it’s 10:30-11pm so no staff at front desk and it didn’t seem like an emergency so we didn’t use on call number. Try to get some rest the bed was ok but not for the price paid imo. Next morning around 5am I try the tub again thinking maybe since the building is older everyone was using the water. It is a bit warmer for a bit but not even enough to fill the tub 1/4 before freezing again. Ok when kids get up we try the pool it’s 9am now, sign saying don’t bring hotel towels out ($10 per towel if you do) so ok kids will have to run back to room lol not the worst thing we get out and the pool water had a yellow tinge and bottom was dirty (sand?) hot tub is not working and also dirty. So let kids play. Get our stuff heading out and the woman at the desk just kind of barked “room number” as I was putting the keys in the box. So my husband answered, nothing about how was your stay thank you for coming anything.

  : I liked the peacefulness, the grand sense of each room and how the each bring you back to another place and time of charm and opulence. I loved being able to sit on a sofa in the parlor and read a book from their collection and look up at the large old family portraits and envision myself being among the spirits of those who long ago walk the same halls, although it was built not that long ago. The new owners are working very diligently to bring beauty, life and love into this wonder of the woods and everyone should take the time to pause and take in the charms of their efforts. From the graceful wallpapers to the elegantly woven rugs, the owners are placing old world charm at every eye level. I was in Heaven.
  : I was discouraged by the lack of training and professionalism displayed by the hotel and restaurant staff. In direct contrast to the style and luxury of the hotel, some of the staff were outright crass, disorganized, loud, and vulgar. I understand that many of them are return employees from past owner(s), however, they are the most interactive image that you have with your patrons. They can set the tone, and leave the taste with your customers on an experience, making them decide whether to return, refer or not. Please consider that in your hiring and training. Also, even if a pool may be closed, it should always be clean.
