Turret Arch is a magnificent natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. This impressive formation is easily visible from the main road and can be accessed via an easy trailhead just off the road. It stands at an imposing height of 128 feet and spans 91 feet across its opening.
This stunning arch has been formed by millions of years of erosion, with wind and rain gradually sculpting away at the terrain over time. The formation is made up primarily of Entrada Sandstone, deposited by ancient streams more than 150 million years ago. This sandstone erodes quickly and easily, making it an ideal material for creating these unique formations.
The name "Turret Arch" was given to this formation due to its resemblance to a castle turret, complete with four pinnacles that look like spires from afar. The arch is framed by two smaller arches known as North Window and South Window — each of which are equally impressive in their own right!
Visitors can also enjoy Turret Arch in multiple ways; there’s a short 0.3-mile loop trail around the arch itself or you can hike up to nearby Grand View Point for a stunning panoramic view of this majestic formation surrounded by other incredible arches, buttes, and canyons. No matter how you choose to experience it, Turret Arch will take your breath away!
