Vegas Vic is a famous neon cowboy sign located in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The iconic symbol can be seen from blocks away and has become synonymous with the city's wild nightlife and entertainment scene. It was created in 1951 by local sign maker, Kermit “Buck” Walters, who had been hired to create a “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign for the newly formed Fremont Street Experience. The 40-foot tall neon sign stands atop a building on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street and features an animated cigar-smoking character in a ten-gallon hat, waving his arm as he welcomes visitors to “Las Vegas—The Entertainment Capital of the World!”
