Audubon House & Tropical Gardens, located in Key West, Florida is a historic estate and museum that showcases the opulence and charm of the island city. Built in 1848 by Captain John Geiger, the house was originally named “Wayside Inn” and served as a refuge for travelers from storms and hurricanes. The house was later renovated by shipwreck salvager Captain Francis Watlington and his wife Julia who renamed it “The Audubon House” in honor of John James Audubon, renowned naturalist and ornithologist.
