The National Museum of Funeral History Houston is the only museum in the world dedicated to the history of funerals and funeral service. The museum houses over 20,000 square feet of exhibits, interactive displays, and educational resources. The museum's mission is to preserve and educate the public about the role that funeral service plays in our society.
The museum was founded in 1992 by Robert L. Waltrip, Sr., who is also the founder of the National Funeral Directors Association. The museum is located in Houston, Texas, and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students, and children under 6 are free.
The museum features a wide variety of exhibits on the history of funeral service. Some of the highlights include:
