Saint Augustine by-the-Sea Honolulu is a church located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The church was founded in 1868 by Father Damien de Veuster, a Belgian priest who was later canonized as a saint. The church is named after Saint Augustine of Hippo, a 4th century theologian and philosopher.
The church is located on Fort Street in downtown Honolulu. It is adjacent to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, the mother church of the Diocese of Honolulu. The church is also near the Iolani Palace , the former residence of the Hawaiian monarchy.
The church has a Gothic Revival architectural style. It is constructed of brick and stone, and features stained glass windows and an intricate altar. The church is considered to be one of the finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Hawaii.
