The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum in Honolulu is a national historic landmark, located on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor. The museum was established as an educational institution to display and interpret the history of naval aviation and to honor those who have served in its defense. Among these planes are a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive-bomber; a North American P-51D Mustang fighter plane; and a Mitsubishi A6M “Zero” fighter plane that was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Guests can also access four galleries inside Hangar 79, where they can view artifacts such as flight suits, photographs, models of aircrafts, battle maps, paintings and artwork created by USS Arizona survivors. The museum also houses a research library which contains nearly 10,000 volumes related to military history and aviation topics.

For more up close encounters with naval history, visitors can join docent-led tours of the USS Arizona Memorial Tour Center or take advantage of the advanced immersive virtual reality experience at the Pacific Aviation Museum Annex at Pearl Harbor (the only one in Hawaii). During their visit guests can also participate in special events such as lectures or movie screenings held at one of two theaters within the facility or even book private events for groups up to 500 people.
