: The location of the property was great. It was close to Ellijay and surrounding areas and was not terribly hard to get to through the gravel roads. Unlike some cabins that are so spread out it was nice that it was not completely spread out with lots of steps. Although obstructed, the views from the back porch were nice. The fenced in area was wonderful to let our furry companions roam and not have to worry about them getting into the woods.
: After the first night, one of us were covered in bites. We thought it was from being outside in the woods. However after a couple of nights we saw a bug on the pillow, and on inspection of the mattress, saw black little dots and streaks and yellowing and after looking into what bed bugs were, it was confirmed. 2 of the 3 mattresses had no evidence, only the master bedroom did, which only a sheet on top of the mattress. The unaffected mattresses had pillow toppers on top of mattress. We alerted Vacasa, who told us at first to leave and said other lodging could not be provided due to us potentially bringing the critters with us (yet were told it was ok to go home , just strip clothing , wash in hot water and we'd be good). Unfortunately, we had met family at this cabin (who had driven 6 hours from the northeast to meet us) (we also had driven 6 hours from the southwest) and because of dogs we were unable to find anywhere else to go. We had to stay or lose our money spent on excursions we had booked throughout the week, time off from work already taken, etc. We stayed out of the questioned bed, slept on the couch, washed all belongings that were in the room with hot water and bagged the clothes to prevent bringing any bugs home. We still have only received a partial refund regardless of the consequence and aggravation we have gone through. We really liked the location and the cabin itself, but poor care and cleanliness of the mattress in the master bedroom ruined what could have been a relaxing vacation. We have been home for ten days and the marks from the bites are still prominent.
