Brownie The Town Dog, a Sealyham Terrier mix, had an incredible impact on Daytona Beach. Brownie became beloved by the inhabitants of Daytona Beach due to his tendency to accompany city officials while they were on patrol and being very friendly in public meetings. Consequently, Brownie was given a formal funeral and memorial after passing in 1952. Brownie's Grave and Memorial is located next to the Halifax Historical Museum near the historic district and is open year-round for people from surrounding areas to pay their respects. Brownie's statue shows him wearing a crimson "Police" collar, designed by Margaret Armstrong, and his headstone reads: "Here Lies Brownie: Faithful friend of All who knew him."
