The Southwest Corridor in Boston is a 4.7-mile (7.6 km) light rail transit line under construction by the MBTA. The line will run from the existing Orange Line at Back Bay Station , through the neighborhoods of the South End, Roxbury, and Jamaica Plain, to Forest Hills station in the southwest part of the city. Construction is expected to be completed in 2023.
The Southwest Corridor project is one of the largest public works projects currently underway in Massachusetts. When complete, it will provide much-needed capacity relief for the heavily-used Orange Line and help to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality in the Boston metropolitan area.
