In 1770, silversmith and patriot Paul Revere built this house in Boston’s North End. Today, it is the oldest structure still standing in downtown Boston and a National Historic Landmark. As a child, Revere lived in the nearby schoolhouse (no longer standing) with his mother and sister until his father’s death in 1754. In 1765, he married Rachel Walker and they moved into this house where they raised eight children. Rachel died in 1813 and Paul died in 1818.
The house was purchased by the Paul Revere Memorial Association in 1908 and opened to the public as a museum in 1916. Visitors can see Paul Revere’s bedroom, his workshop, and an exhibit on the famous “Midnight Ride.”
