Located on a 10-acre park on the Columbia Point peninsula, this state-of-the-art museum complex houses millions of documents, photographs, audio/video recordings, artifacts and other historical objects that help to tell the story of President Kennedy's life and legacy. The library was designed by famed architect I.M. Pei in 1979 and completed in late 1981. The building features an 87-foot glass tower that serves as both a beacon and memorial for JFK, reflecting his lifetime commitment to public service. Inside the library are several galleries with interactive exhibits that cover different aspects of President Kennedy’s life including his World War II experiences; his presidential campaign; his work in civil rights; his foreign policy initiatives; and his assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.

The library also houses an extensive collection of books related to President Kennedy’s presidency, including thousands of speeches he gave during his time in office.
