The Edward Everett Hale statue was designed by Bela Pratt in Boston is a tribute to the man who was instrumental in the city's development. The life-sized bronze sculpture depicts Hale in his later years, seated and looking out over the Boston skyline. It is located in the Public Garden, near the Boston Common.
Hale was a Unitarian minister, author, and social reformer who lived in Boston during the 19th century. He was born in Massachusetts in 1822 and graduated from Harvard College in 1840. After serving as a minister in several churches, Hale became the chaplain of the United States Senate in 1865. He retired from that position in 1869 but continued to work for social reform and write books and articles until his death in 1909.
Hale was an advocate for many causes, including women's suffrage, prison reform, and civil rights. He also helped tofound numerous organizations, including the American Red Cross and the NAACP. Hale's legacy continues to be felt in Boston today, and his statue is a fitting tribute to his many contributions to the city.
