Tiny Doors ATL is an art project created by artist Karen Anderson in Atlanta, Georgia. The project involves creating tiny, free-standing doors that are placed around the city of Atlanta for people to discover and enjoy. The doors measure between two and four feet tall and feature unique designs, making them a unique addition to the cityscape.
The project has been running since 2014 and has grown significantly in popularity since then. There are now more than thirty tiny doors scattered throughout neighborhoods in Atlanta, including Downtown and Midtown. Each door is hand crafted with a variety of materials such as reclaimed wood, metalwork, glasswork and mosaics. They are painted in bright colors that often match the natural environment or architecture of their surroundings.
The goal of Tiny Doors ATL is to create a sense of wonder, surprise and delight amongst those who stumble upon them while exploring the city streets. It also encourages people to get out and explore new areas they may not have otherwise visited by providing an unexpected treat at the end of a journey. Additionally, it serves as an interactive artwork that connects people with art no matter where they are located or how much money they have available for admission fees.
The project has gained a lot of attention from locals and visitors alike as well as from national media outlets such as The New York Times and Buzzfeed. People from all over the world come to Atlanta specifically to search for these miniature doors often documenting their discoveries through photos on social media platforms like Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #TinyDoorsATL.
Tiny Doors ATL has become an iconic part of Atlanta’s culture over the years receiving praise for its originality, charm and creativity- transforming public spaces into art galleries accessible to everyone in the community regardless of age or income level. Its success has even inspired other cities across America like Detroit Michigan to start similar projects bringing tiny doors into their own cities as well!
