The facility includes two state-of-the-art theaters that feature puppet shows from all genres including comedy, music theatre, storytelling and classic works from legendary puppet masters. The Mainstage Theater recently underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation that included new seating arrangements with improved sight lines for maximum comfort; updated acoustics for better sound; new lighting design; improved backstage spaces; a larger stage to accommodate larger productions; better accessibility throughout the theater space; enhanced theatrical drapery; refurbished lobby areas - including new restrooms - plus other technical updates. In addition to performances in its theaters, the Center hosts public events such as Puppet Slams (variety shows featuring adult content), family festivals artists’ talks/workshops and master classes.

The Museum at The Center for Puppetry Arts is where visitors can learn about puppetry history through permanent collections featuring Jim Henson’s work (including Kermit The Frog) as well as works from various international puppet companies like Muppets Inc., Danish Royal Theatre Company or Japan’s Bunraku Puppetry Troupe. These collections are augmented by rotating exhibits that showcase different aspects of puppeteering or spotlight work from individual artists or organizations. Additionally, there is an interactive area of the museum where guests can make their own creations using materials provided by the museum staff.
