Arlington Stadium was home to the Texas Rangers from 1972 until 1993. The stadium was originally built as a minor league baseball park in 1965. It was rebuilt in 1971 to accommodate the Rangers, who had relocated from Washington, D.C.
Arlington Stadium was known for its unique architecture; the upper deck was cantilevered over the lower deck, meaning that there were no support columns obstructing views of the field. The stadium also had a retractable roof, which was a first for Major League Baseball.
Despite its modern amenities, Arlington Stadium was not a comfortable place to play for the Rangers. The summer heat and humidity made it difficult for players and fans alike. In addition, the stadium's location made it susceptible to high winds, which often blew balls out of the ballpark.
The Rangers moved to their current home, Globe Life Park in Arlington, in 1994. Arlington Stadium was demolished soon after.
