The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire , New Mexico is a beautiful and solemn tribute to the brave veterans of the Vietnam War. This memorial is located at the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 972 in Angel Fire and was dedicated in 1998. It consists of three black granite walls, etched with the names of over 4,000 fallen service members from all branches of the United States Armed Forces. The memorial also includes a statue of three soldiers standing in front of a wall, representing those who were killed, wounded and missing in action.
The memorial serves as a reminder that freedom isn't free. The commanding view across Moreno Valley will remind visitors that these men and women paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy our freedoms today. There is also an interpretive center located within the memorial grounds which provides education about the war and honors all those who served during this time period. Furthermore, there are several events scheduled throughout the year such as wreath laying ceremonies on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veteran's Day, remembrance services for fallen heroes as well as musical performances and other special events throughout the year.
