Welcome to Abiquiu, New Mexico!

Exploring Abiquiu, the Land of Enchantment

Abiquiu is one of Rio Arriba County’s most beautiful locations and is known for being the home of the late artist Georgia O'Keeffe. The area boasts an array of scenic vistas and outdoor activities to explore. Read on to learn more about all that Abiquiu has to offer!

Ghost Ranch
Ghost Ranch is a 21,000-acre ranch in Abiquiu and was once owned by O’Keeffe. The land consists of various landscapes including red cliffs, canyons, mesas, deserts, and forests—all surrounded by stunning mountain ranges. Today, it serves as an educational center and a place to explore the outdoors. Ghost Ranch offers guided hikes, horseback riding tours, art classes, and more so visitors can experience its beauty up close.

The O'Keeffe: Welcome Center
The O’Keeffe Welcome Center is located in Abiquiu Village Square. This center pays homage to the iconic artist with exhibits on her life and artwork as well as walking tours through her former homesite. It also houses a gift shop featuring products inspired by her work such as postcards and books. Visitors can even take part in painting classes or go on photography walks around town!

Plaza Blanca
Located just outside Abiquiu Village Square is Plaza Blanca—a breathtakingly beautiful rock formation that looks like something out of a storybook! This unique site features large white sandstone rocks jutting out from the ground that have been naturally sculpted into various shapes. It’s no surprise that this spot was one of O’Keeffe’s favorite places to paint—the views are simply stunning!

Plaza Blanca is open year-round with free admission; however there are restrictions during certain times due to weather conditions so be sure to check in advance before planning a trip here.

Plus you don't want to miss out on their Sunday Night Barbeque held every week throughout summertime which includes delicious food along with music performances from local artists.
